wow … what a week

By | October 2, 2023

We’ve just spent a week cruising around the Whitsundays with family. Tim, Kaycee and our two-year-old granddaughter Ava jumped on board.

It was a whirlwind visit with lots of activity.  We had a 2 year old to entertain!

There’s no underwater images in this post. No drone shots. And not much reading to be had either. Just many images capturing some very special memories. So no apologies for this very different post of mine.

I’ll let the pictures tell the story …

First up … getting to know The Bossa … with Ava.

First stop … Whitehaven Beach of course. We had brilliant weather for the first few days. Lots of sunshine for beach visits.

And a proposal!

A proposal on Whitehaven Beach! And she said ‘yes’! While we were ‘in the know’, Kaycee certainly wasn’t. It didn’t go strictly according to the plan, with Ava ‘crashing the party’, but what special Whitehaven Beach memories they will have.

We had Turtle Bay beach all to ourselves.

With the weather turning ordinary (yes we had more strong wind), it was time to fix our electric winch that had come adrift on our last sail, celebrate Tim’s birthday and do some cooking and bowl licking!

One of our last anchorages was Cid Harbour. It rained and blew, but we did get ashore.  The goannas were a hit and Ava managed to wrestle the helm off dad in the dinghy.

It was a busy week!

Our kids grew up on the water.  Our dinghy was always Tim’s plaything, so seeing Ava on the helm, did bring back some memories of our early visits to the Whitsundays

We are so glad they took the plunge bringing Ava aboard. She fell out of bed one night but not again, managed the steps by going down in reverse, ate my cooking and slept happily, accepted she had to wear the lifejacket and most importantly she (and mum and dad) had a great time!

“Such an incredible week having Ava on the boat learning and playing with all the things I loved so much growing up” … Tim – September 2023
