We have just spent a few glorious days below the water. Calm sunny weather and low tides in the middle of the day … perfect for snorkelling!
We visited Ilot Signal and the Dumbea reef pass.
Here’s a few pics, including captions.
Love these soft corals Texture and pattern.
These tiny tiny black and white fish were buzzing around this brown soft coral
Remoras (also known as sucker fish) seemed to take ownership of our boat. They are attached to our hull!
This parrot fish ‘danced’ for ages. Not sure if he was trying to escape the wrasse’s insistence.
An octopus! A bit too far away for a clear photo.
Flexibility personified!
An octopus in hiding
A blue spotted coral trout
These turtles were so slow and friendly.
This turtle just did not move … asleep??
And also some photos of my ‘little’ fish. I chase these around, watch patiently, check the light and get as close as I can. I only win a few times, but a few good photos out of hundreds, makes it worth it.
The light just caught the soft coral and tiny fish
This yellow fish is one of my favourite little fish. They are so cheeky!
Peepo!
The silver sweep just follow you around, close to the surface, so they are fun to catch looking above.
Up close and personal!
Great pics Amanda love the blue and the yellow damsel shots. And there are Crown of Thorns starfish there too?
We ave just come in to GKI after 9 days out the reef.
The reef snorkelling is do much more accessible here. Unfortunately my underwater camera is having a foucus problem. Crossing my fingers I can continue to use it. I’m very sad 🙁
